Formation and teaching of a Cuban Philosophy between 1838 and 1839 III

In this article, the author analyzes the formative role played by the Philosophy chair installed in the San Francisco convent. He presents this institution as an academic setting for the process of formation and teaching of Cuban Philosophy between 1838 and 1839. In addition, he reveals how this chair became the model of a new school of methods, which rejected elitist education and formed men with clear feelings, active hearts and committed to the homeland. The aim of the article is to explain how the San Francisco convent became a trench for the battle of ideas, which Luz y Caballero directed as a guide for the role that young people should play, in order to take part in the great social events that historical time foresees. Likewise, he analyzes how the great Cuban teacher, from this institution, fulfilled the need to prepare young people for the conscious assumption of this great task.
