Caring for geriatric patients: Prevention in health care

Abstract

Care for the geriatric patient encompasses individualized attention to the elderly in health prevention, which motivates its transversal and specific inclusion in the professional training process of the Nursing career. In this sense, the objective of this article is to propose theoretical and methodological actions for the development of health prevention for the benefit of the geriatric patient from Nursing care. To achieve this objective, descriptive documentary-type research was developed through a critical analysis of a group of documentary sources that, once interpreted and understood, allowed contextualizing the knowledge that emerges from them with the purpose of proposing a set of theoretical actions. methodological. As a result, actions are argued that constitute alternatives for the orientation of health prevention and care of the geriatric patient in the Nursing training process. Concluding that the proposed actions constitute a methodological tool for the development of health prevention for the benefit of the geriatric patient from the professional practice of Nursing.
