Abstract

Curricular strategies have included formative elements that guarantee the quality of professional training. These strategies were systematically implemented in the Natural Sciences Department, however, the so-called “English Communicative Competence” curricular strategy still deserves further attention. This was particularly necessary to improve the comprehension of written scientific texts in the subject Inorganic Chemistry. More systematic and group work was needed to develop communicative competence in English in the students of the Biology-Chemistry Major in Education, using purposefully chosen texts from the subject Inorganic Chemistry I. The experience accumulated by the groups of this major was compiled here. Methods used were analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction, and the study of written sources. These analyses led to a higher level of comprehension of the matter by specialists and teachers. The methods allowed the authors to present a theoretical and methodological corpus, which by extension had an impact on learning. Thus the objective of this paper was fulfilled by presenting the teachers with a way to efficiently exploit the curricular strategy already mentioned.
