Strengthening of Identity Values Taking the Students´ Local Culture as Departure Point

The current article is a result of the project “Literature and Arts in Holguín territory since the triumph of the revolution.” It had as objective to present pedagogical procedures which permit teachers contribute to strengthen identity values in their students, taking the study of their local culture as a departure point, while appreciating its aesthetic recreation in authentic literature. The research was carried out by means of the use of methods such as interviews to key reporters, and analysis and criticism of sources, which permitted the study of unpublished, original and manuscripts texts and other documents of historical– cultural values. The elaborated proposal involves two phases: first, the teachers´ preparation on the subject, and then, the use in their pedagogical practice of the contents they had already received. This was corroborated in their research work, mainly by means of Mastering Degree Thesis. The results yielded by the research allowed us to confirm that reading and enjoyment of locality representative literary texts lead to a typical motivation in students towards the approach to a historical–cultural panorama of the place where they live, and at the same time, they contribute to the identification of themselves, and to the strengthening of their identity values.
