Abstract
Through this article, its author reveals the deep pedagogical thought of the Cuban teacher of the XIX century, José de la Luz y Caballero, who surpassed his contemporaries by revealing the learnig processes that stimulates, in children and youngsters the formation of an independent, flexible thought, free of prejudices, and oriented to the consolidation of attitudes and commitment to the need to find solutions to the social problems of the epoch.
