The Ethical Foundation of José De La Luz y Caballero

Abstract

In this article is analyzed a very important characteristic of José de la Luz y Caballero's social thought. It derives from the interest of supporting a new ethical conception which promotes a moral education devoted to the national formation process; from which it was possible to form in the emerging Cuban, a new paradigm of love and commitment for the nation. This article was aimed at revealing the ethics specificities of José de la Luz y Caballero, as well as his contribution to the process of formation of those men who were leaders in the foundation of the Cuban culture and nation. The general method used was the dialectical one, and its application answered to the logical procedures of the scientific knowledge: analysis-synthesis and induction-deduction, making emphasis on the historico-logical.
