Polemic in Havana on the falseness or certainty of Cousin´s psychology

Abstract

The results presented in this article are part of a historical research to deepen into the studies on the life and works of the Cuban educator José de la Luz y Caballero. The objective of the authors was aimed at revealing the values of Luz´s criticism to psychologism and to determine the theoretical and practical inconsistencies of the intention of the spiritual eclecticism of transforming the psychological method into an infallible research method and cognitive search. The methods used were selected in accordance with the requirements of the research process, under which dialectics was used as a general method, through the consistent application of the logical procedures of the scientific knowledge: analysis-synthesis, historical-logical and induction-deduction, as methodological resources that enabled revealing with total clarity the behavior and evolution of the research object.
