The article is an homage to Horacio Quiroga, considered the father of the short story in the Spanish world, in the seventy three anniversary of his death. His work is among the icons of modernism and the innovators of contemporary tale telling. He is greatly influenced by masters of universal short – story writing, yet he finds his style and places himself among the top writers of the continent. A proof of that are his unforgetable narrations of Misiones, inspiration, haven and setting of most of his stories.
