Puerto Rico's current situation is a controversial issue many sides for analysis. For cubans it is more than an international fact: it is something that touche us closely. Following Martí's perspectives, this work discloses coincidences and reflections about the historic processes of both countries, so similar in the formation of their nationhard during the Spanish and the Northamerican rules. The work also emphasies that the independence of Puerto Rico a matter to which Martí gone top   priority   is still incomplete
