Manifestações oftalmológicas de NOMA

Neste artigo, foi apresentado um caso referente a Noma, uma patologia gangrenosa orofacial agressiva que lesa os tecidos duros e moles da boca e da face. É um processo multifatorial no qual intervêm fatores como desnutrição, doenças debilitantes (infecções bacterianas ou virais sistêmicas, imunossupressão associada ao HIV) e infecções intraorais, raramente acompanhadas de doença oftálmica. Por se tratar de uma doença desconhecida em Cuba, decide-se apresentá-la para ser trabalhada no processo de ensino de estudantes de medicina e residentes. A revisão documental, a observação e o método clínico foram utilizados como método. Esta patologia requer diagnóstico e intervenção imediatos.A antibioticoterapia sistêmica e o desbridamento cirúrgico, com monitoramento intensivo, consistem em terapia adequada. Sendo infrequente a afetação do órgão de visão.
