The local history of the San Agustín de Aguarás neighborhood. Activities to favor the teaching of the History of Cuba

Abstract

In this work, a study on the socioeconomic evolution of San Agustín de Aguarás between the end of the 18th century and the 19th century was carried out, revealing the role of the neighborhood as an intermediate point where the traditional cattle raising and modernizing sugarcane economic dynamics converged, which transformed its reality and its growth. It analyzes stages that highlight relevant historical events, where a qualitative research approach predominates, based on the work with bibliographic, documentary and oral sources and the analysis of archival documents. The objective is to offer a novel panorama about the birth and development of San Agustín de Aguarás, neighborhood of Calixto García municipality, Holguín province.
