The teaching of local history in Cuba constitutes a priority of the Cuban Ministry of Education. However, history teachers do not have a written material including the contents of the Holguin´s local history in an integrated way. That´s why the main contribution of article was the compilation of the contents of local history and to make them available for teachers, with didactical and methodological purposes from 1959 to 1965. As a result of its implementation the quality of the teaching- learning process of local history of Holguín and by extension of the general formative process of the students increased.
