La Holguin patriotic literature: a valuable source for learning about the Cuban History

Abstract

This is a study directed to the teachers of The Cuban History from the University of Pedagogical Sciences and the Pre-University Education ones working in the eleventh grade. It briefly summarizes, the research results related to the usage of the literary works of writers who were inspired in Holguin facts, processes or historical personalities of our freedom struggles to be used in the teaching – learning process of the Cuban History as a source to have access to the historical knowledge, awakening the motivation of the students; all this can be accomplished by applying the dialectical - materialism approach, supported by quantitative and qualitative methods, prevailing the latest. The implementation of the proposal in six pre-university centers of the province and at the undergraduate level proved its feasibility and use, due to the students were really interested on the subject and showed satisfaction when studying The Cuban History again, what was reflected in superior academic results to those obtained previously. This investigation offered the Humanistic teachers a model of how to organize the work with the integrative educational tasks that facilitate the usage of the knowledge and abilities acquired in several subjects from the solution of tasks characteristic of The Cuban History.
