The Arts instructor as an educational guide from the socialization of gender

Among the varied functions of music as an artistic expression, communication is one of the most important. This expression of art is part of the cultural identity of the people and its consumption allows to fix sexual stereotypes and positive or negative behavior patterns in different age groups. The objective of the following work is to orient towards an adequate socialization of gender to the students of the Degree in Education: instructor of art, from the possibilities offered by the appreciation of Cuban popular music. During the development of the research, several scientific research methods were applied; among those corresponding to the theoretical level are analysis-synthesis and historical-logic. From the empirical level were used the observation, documentary analysis, interview, survey and focused testimony. The scientific results offered demonstrate the persistence of sexist educational models through the student and professional performance of art instructors and, therefore, the advantage of assuming a conception that promotes gender equity in such students
