Political and educational discourse in the newspapers El Comercio and La Tribuna. Lima, Perú 1948

The research topic is limited to the period from 1948, a year of severe Peruvian political crisis, culminating in General Odría's coup d'état. The objective was to eliminate the APRA threat of carrying out a revolution, which implied the collapse of the oligarchic social order. The national context is described and the political and educational discourses in the opposing newspapers El Comercio and La Tribuna, an open confrontation in the print media, are analyzed. This analysis, supported by a specialized bibliography, will allow for a better understanding of the various factors that contributed to the radicalization of political and social belligerence, which ultimately resulted in Odría's military uprising and the coup d'état.
