Formation and Development of the Social Competence of Speaking Effectively in High School Students

Abstract

The social competence is the key for making different activities in society. The verbal exchange is part of this competence, which allows students to make connections between what they have already known and what they learn. Nowadays, it is a challenge in schools, the insufficient effectiveness with which students express their ideas and opinions in the environment they grow up. This work is part of a project developed at the Educational Unit ITSUP in the City of Portoviejo, Ecuador. The research aimed to develop a strategy for the formation and development of the social competence of the ability to speak effectively in high school students. Different instruments such as classroom observation, surveys and interviews with teachers and principals were used. An emphasis was made in the curriculum to demonstrate the historical evolution of the subject. It was concluded that the application of this teaching strategy for the implementation of the theoretical model, shows a high degree of effectiveness in the communication of the students in order to face the challenges of the modern world.
