Author Guidelines

The journal Luz publishes articles related to Education Sciences in all its fields.

Manuscripts (written in Spanish, English or Portuguese) are received with the understanding that they are original (Certificate of originality) and unpublished, which should be made clear by the author in his communication with the editor. Authors must declare their commitment not to send their articles simultaneously to this or another publication (Copyright release letter).

Opinions expressed by authors are their sole responsibility. Design coherence failures invalidate all information and are cause for rejection.

All research received that meets the standards will be reviewed by academic peers, under the open peer review modality. This process requires transparence on the part of reviewers who will have 30 business days to communicate their decision to the journal's board as approved for publication, not approved for publication or approved for publication with recommendations. When there is a discrepancy of opinions, a third reviewer will be consulted, or it will be the director of the journal who decides. The rejection of an article will not always indicate poor quality. It may be due to not adapting to the theme of the journal or other reasons. Results are unquestionable. The average time between acceptance of an article and its publication is 15 months.

Other contributions, such as, partial results of research projects, of master's thesis, of doctorates, specialties, monographs, short communications, news and advanced pedagogical experiences, will be accepted, provided they meet the requirements of research, review and reflection articles, among others.

The selection of the material eligible for publication is based on the following general criteria (See review form):

    Adjustment to the themes of the journal.
    Design coherence (formulation of the problem and logic in its solution)
    Scientific rigour.
    Proper use of language and scientific style.
    Novelty, impact and sustainability of research from the economic, social and environmental point of view, among others.
    Proper use of tables, graphics and images.
    Compliance with ethical standards on the use of scientific information.

For publication, the submitted research articles must meet the following standards (Use template):

Be approved by the scientific advisory body corresponding to the entity of origin of the author, who will deliver a copy of the article accompanied by the opinion issued by it, in which the reviewers will express whether the work is derived from the result of a research, of a master's thesis or of a doctorate, or of other results.
    Title (Spanish, English and Portuguese), must not exceed 15 words, do not include abbreviations, or acronyms, do not state negatively.
    Name and surname of the author or authors (up to three), email, graduation specialty, teaching and scientific category, center of origin, position held, address of the center, zip code and telephone. This sheet will be attached
to the article on a separate sheet.
Abstract (Spanish, English and Portuguese) up to 150 words in a single paragraph. It constitutes a synthesis of the article, therefore it will be descriptive, informative and structured; it will state the objective of the research, the general materials and methods used, the results obtained and the partial conclusions and it will be written in a single paragraph and in past tense.
    Keywords (Spanish, English and Portuguese), below each corresponding abstract. Use up to 7 terms to facilitate the location of the document, which should adjust, according to the possibilities of each author, to some thesaurus or list of epigraphs.
    Introduction. Have the most recent bibliography, preferably in a range of 5 years. State the problem, the objective and backgrounds of the research that is being argued.
    Materials and methods. Methods used by the author - whether qualitative or not (document analysis, interview, observation, others) - will be expressed, and specifically indicate what they were used for.
    Results and Discussion. Present the results and discuss them. This does not mean explaining the results only, but also compare them with other criteria of experts in the literature that obtain similar research results to those revealed.
 Conclusions. They respond to the objectives stated by the researcher (stated in the introduction and abstract) and constitute generalizations.
 Bibliographic references delimited by APA standards (7th edition).

Review articles, in addition to the general data, should take into account the following structure: introduction, methodology, results and discussion (in sections); conclusions (if necessary); bibliographical references and annexes (if any).

The content to be published once reviewed is the property of the publication (copyright transfer letter), this is not the case of the scientific contribution, which must be correctly protected by intellectual property rights. The journal is not responsible for the use of these contents by other authors.

The original document will be sent in electronic version. Times New Roman font 12 points, justified; 1.5 line spacing and 2 cm margins (upper, lower, left and right). Letter paper size and with page numbers. They will not exceed 15 pages, including bibliographic references and annexes.
 

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

Articles

Uses open peer review in order to guarantee quality and to adjust to Luz's goals. The scientific articles that are  submitted for publication are evaluated by specialists in the subject following the "open peer review" method, in which arbitrators and authors are known to each other. Each article is reviewed by al teast two external reviewers, who act as a group and communicate with each other; they also have  knowledge of the identity and results of others.

We have an anti-plagiarism policy and we use the the tool plagiarisma to detect possible fraud in the submissions we receive, regardless the fact that authors must issue a letter of originality  (see guidelines for authors in the submissions section), which certifies that the article is totally original and unpublished.

The names and e-mail addresses entered in this journal will be used exclusively for the purposes stated in it and will not be given to third parties for its use with other purposes.
