About the Journal

Luz, a journal sponsored by the University of Holguín, belonging to the Ministry of Higher Educaction, was founded in 2002, legalized and its permit authorized in 2004 by means of the Registration Certificate issued by the National Registry of Serial Publications (RNPS, by its initials in Spanish) of the Cuban Book Institute. The ISSN 1814-151X was granted afterwards. The journal is named Luz as a tribute to the distinguished Cuban educator and philosopher José de la Luz y Caballero

The journal is an online, academic and scientific publication of continuous periodicity; mainly designed for the academic community of Holguín and of Cuba in general, as well as of other regions of the continent where mentoring actions are undertaken and diplomas, master's and doctorates are implemented.

It edits original and unpublished scientific articles, wich are the results of researches concerning the Education Sciences in all its fields.

Luz applies open peer review as a means to guarantee quality and to meet the journal's goals. The scientific articles that are submitted for publication are assessed by specialists on the subject, following the “open peer review” method, in which authors and reviewers are known to each other. Each article is reviewed by at least two reviewers, who act as a group and communicate with each other. If both reviewers approve the article, it will be placed on the editorial mat and published when appropriate. If both reviewers reject the article, it will be withdrawn from the publication process, and this decision is final. If only one of the reviewers rejects the article, the document will be submitted for review by a third party (reviewer or editor), who will make the final decision to approve or reject it.

Moreover, the journal has an anti-plagiarism policy and the tool plagiarism (https://editpad.org/tool/plagiarism-checker) is used to detect possible fraud in the submissions received, regardless of the fact that authors must issue a certificate of originality (see guidelines for authors in the submissions section) that certifies that their article is completely original and unpublished.
