The orientation to teachers for the attention to students with intellectual disability included in the Primary Education

Abstract

Despite the importance that has been given to educational inclusion in Cuba and the existence of a great diversity within schools conceiving these as institutions open to plurality and with a developing character, it is still necessary the study of the preparation of teachers for a successful orientation to schoolchildren with intellectual disabilities. The insufficiencies in the aforesaid preparation, that limits the attention of schoolchildren with intellectual disabilities attended in Primary Education of the municipality of Báguanos, were investigated. To this goal, empirical methods such as observation, interview, survey, study of documents were applied. With the aim of solving this problem, the researchers developed an orientation program, helping teachers to achieve a proper attention to the problems detected in the schoolchildren.
