The Comprehension when Solving Mathematical Problems: a Present Glance

The authors stated as objective the explanation of the importance of reading comprehension when solving Mathematical problems from the foundations of the developing Didactics. Theoretical and practical insufficiencies were revealed such as: lack of coherence in the treatment of the instructive, educational and developing functions when solving Mathematical problems; as well as the reduction of this last process to the search of Mathematical relations without taking advantage of the formulation of the problem for the fulfillment of the educational function. It was redefined the concept of Mathematical problem from its assumption as a text, and contributed the definition of comprehension of Mathematical problems. The following empirical and theoretical methods were used: revision of documents, analysis –synthesis, induction – deduction and historical – logical.
