The direction of the teaching – learning process as the main function of the high school principal

The article was derived from the authors’ own experiences as school principals. Its objective pointed toward the design of actions for the direction of the teaching- learning process departing from the principal´s work in Junior High School. There are also defined the tasks that must be completed by the school principal from the pedagogical delivery, the upgrading of the teaching staff, the counseling and lesson control and of the direction and technical organs. Its practical outcome was evidenced in the learning quality in the institution where it was applied. Theoretical methods like the analysis – synthesis, inductive – deductive, systemic – structural, historical – logical and modelling were used. In the same way empirical methods were applied such as: observation, survey, interview, document analysis and expert’s criteria, as well as statistical ones.
