economyAbstract
The present work is framed within the line of investigation on Cuban economic thought in the first half of the XIX century. Its main objective consisted in demonstrating the existence of an alternative economic thought, different from the represented and supported by the slave holders´ bourgeoisie of the time. Such an economic alternative for Cuba was led by the middle-class and cored around the Bishop of Havana. The economic ideals of this group constitute a coherent project for the development of the Island and they are issued as an effort focused in the interest of solving Cuba´s problems. The results of the research were introduced as a means of support, which can be useful for both, teachers and students.
