Abstract

This article deals with a panoramic view of de development of the sculpture in the city of Holguin after the triumph of the Revolution. A characterization per decades of the fundamental aspects regarding sculpture is carried out such as: the foundation of the Plastic Arts School, the arrival of the Mexican Electa Arenal scupture in the 1960s and the most relevant events of the 1970, in spite of its quitness as wellas the advantages and failures that brought the creation of CODEMA in the decada of 1980s and the most significant examples of the sculpture of the late century. Besides the most important artists in the territory who have contributed to the development of this manifestation are mentioned their main works, taking into account a formal and conceptual analysis.The clasification of monumentary sculpture, environmental as well as that of the room.
