The prefecture San José of Guaicanamar in José Martí's work
Abstract
The study resulted from documentary analysis and of the work carried out by students from the Major Bachelor in Education, Primary Education, with the objective of confirming the existence of the prefecture San José of Guaicanamar, starting from the description carried out by José Martí in the foreword to the book “The poets of the war”. Among the methods and techniques used by the authors prevailed the qualitative ones, among them: scientific observation and the unstructured interview, among others. The analysis of José Martí's vision on the prefecture San José of Guaicanamar and the camagüey’s patriot Loreto del Castillo y Varona, who attracted the appreciation of the most diverse eminent persons for their loyalty was of great utility; its humble house in San José of Guaicanamar propitiated what can be considered a political and cultural gathering in the fields of free Cuba by the light of these times.
