El modelo de Van Hiele: Una experiencia en el tema Cuadriláteros del 7mo grado

Abstract

There in no doubt that in the Primary and Secondary levels of teaching, there are few students able to seach a high level of reasoning. Most of these students think of the mathematic world as something unalterable. One of the step given to help teacher understand these situation is the contribution developed by Pierre and Dina Van Hiele which is known as the Van Hiele Model. In such model, there is a description about how Geometry develops, the way of reasoning of the students and the ways in which teachers can organize their lessons to obtain a more effective development on the students.
With the objective of improving the teaching of the topic relate to Quadrilateral, which is the object of the study in 7th grade, a didactic model was theoretically elaborated and supponted.
For such proposal, the characteristics of the Van Hiele Model, as well as its possible application were studied. The model is psico-pedagogically supponted on the cognitive theories of learning and affear an alternative for the present needs of the formation and development of the future citizens of the XXI century.
In this paper, the experiences and results derived from the application of this model in the school EIDE “Pedro Díaz Coello” in Holguin city are presented.
