Abstract

The especies of plants to wich José Martí makes reference in his campaingn diary written from Playitas de Cajobabo to Dos Ríos have been used to foment what is known as “martiano forest”. A detailled revision of the vulgar and scientific names of each of the especies proved that there are errors to this respect. An some cases because in fact it has not been taken into account if the especies used is ready the one refered to by Martí, on the other hand many of them have changed their names as a result of systematic revisions that are carried out in the taxonomic order. To plant a “martiano forest” implies to come as close as posible to the reality José Martí lived and it contribuites to foster the formation of patriotic and environmental values on the estudents. The article offers important information that shows other values of the plantas, beisdes the historical ares, among those that stand out are: medicinal, human and animal nutrition, meliferous, religious woodless, etc, with the objective to contribute to their protection as an integral part of the Cuban patrimony.
