Luz Verde al Carbón de Piedra

Abstract

This article deals with a poorly studied topic of the work of the ouststanding Cuban teacher of the first half of the XIX century, José de la Luz y Caballero. The author reveals the precepts of this well known intellectual about the necessity of using coal as a fundamental source of energy for the emergin Cuban industry, and highlights his concern about using cheaper and less harmful combustible for the enviroment and human health, to stimulate the economic development as the way to the creation of a national industry.
