Abstract

This article is about José Martí’s ideas about special education, specifically dealing with the teaching to deaf, blind, talent and retarded children. In order to make this analysis the author not only used some articles published in 1875 in the Universal Magazine from México, but also some poems, essays and articles appearing in José Martí’s work of arts, specially in books 6,11,17,24 and 21. Also a deep analysis is made about the way the contemporary special education teacher may put into practice these ideas nowdays.
